Easter Rambles
As we are advised to only go out if necessary, long rambles are not encouraged, but an exercise walk to the top of Caldy Hill is perfectly acceptable. I hope that you have all been able to get out and enjoy the sunshine, and take some time to appreciate the wonderful views available to us.
The celebrations at this time of year, Easter and otherwise, are to remind us all that, at the end of a long dark winter, long hours of daylight return, bringing new lives, an abundance of flowers in all colours of the rainbow, and that many animals reappears after a winter of hibernation. And after a long time, confined to our houses, local food shops and short walks, you can also look forward to the days when you can see relatives in real life, not just on screens, go back to school to meet friends, take up your outdoor hobbies again, and make plans for a bright future. I expect that you will also have had time to reflect on what is important in your lives, your aspirations, and what you might do differently in future.
Here's a fun challenge for you. Invent a signature drink for a friend.
Firstly you 'll need to have a conversation with them to be sure that you know what characteristics you want to include.
Try mixing different flavours of fruit juices, fizzy additions, fruit, and decorations until you find one that tastes good and also represents your friend. For example, you may include her favourite colour, or think about whether she's bubbly or sharp witted, or sweet.
Next find a paper cup or put a paper collar around a beaker. decorate it to represent your friend.
The finally take a photo and send it, with an explanation of why it represents her.
First Aid
If you are working towards your first aid badge, then here are the next 2 skills that you need to learn for Level 5. There are lots of helpful videos on the internet if you don't have a doctor or other trained person in the house.
Learn how to recognise and treat a Cardiac Arrest, including using an AED (make a pretend one perhaps and practise on your old teddy)
Learn how to treat someone having a seizure.
Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts
