This term has been very difficult for everyone because of school exams and coursework. As there are 5 different schools here there always seems to be someone who is doing an exam. Nevertheless we had representatives at the Church Fair and Remembrance Day Parade. The Rainbow Rewind evening was fun and relaxing. The Rainbow leader came and ran the meeting just as she would for Rainbows, with lego modelling, rice cake teddies and games. Other unit activities have included building mini rafts, thinking about how to lay out a camp site, and building birdhouses. We took part in Plastics action week with the Guides, helping to raise awareness of the problem and building a plastic sculpture. Parliament week was a chance to decide what we would put in a manifesto, and to learn more about how our laws are made. Some of the girls organised a coffee morning, made cakes and raised some money towards the London trip. At the end of the term they joined the District at the Family Social Evening where they helped on stalls and took part in a signed performance of 'The Christmas Alphabet' |
In the end just 3 girls were able to attend, but we had a great day. It began with an early train, and then going by underground to the London Eye. After that we walked to Trafalgar Square, taking in Westminster Bridge and Downing Street. We encountered the Extinction Rebellion Protest, and entered the National Gallery. We followed this with a quick look at Covent Garden. After a lunch at MacDonalds we went to Baker Street (Sherlock Holmes), and then Madame Tussauds. Many photographs were taken here, (the leaders had to ask who some of the celebrities were....)
After Dinner at Pizza Express we made our way back to Euston and the train home. We are definitely going back to see more of the sights another time.
